Welcome to Year 4!

Here, you will find information about what we do in Year 4. You will be able to see photographs of some of our work and see some of our displays.

Every child has a guided reading session once a week and where possible, they are heard to read individually by the LSA or teacher. Children will be given plenty of opportunities to read during the week: whole class reading, guided reading in small groups, independent reading and buddy reading to their partners in Year 1. Please encourage your child to read their own books at home for literal understanding and inference. Please ensure your child's reading record is signed at least once a week.

This year the children will prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. We support this prepartation in school through prayer, hymns and regular visits from Father Tim.

Year 4 have a wonderful opportunity to learn and play a musical instrument. Every Friday a specialist music teacher will deliver guitar lessons to each class. The children have now been given a guitar which is theirs to use during the year. Please take care of these instruments and ensure they are in school every Friday. Remember practice is extremely important for progress.

Thank  you for your support,

Mrs Bennett, Miss Beckwith and Mrs Robinson
