Year 4
Welcome to Year 4
A very warm welcome to Year 4. We are looking forward to an exciting year of learning, new experiences and plenty of opportunities for our pupils to grow in confidence and independence.
Our Year 4 team is:

Class 10: Mrs Kelly
Learning Support Assistant: Mrs Parkinson
PE
Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure that pupils have the correct PE kit in school and are ready to take part.
Homework and Learning at Home
Regular practice at home makes a real difference and helps pupils to build confidence in the skills they are developing in school.
Each week, Year 4 pupils will be expected to complete:
• Reading Plus: One comprehension lesson and one vocabulary lesson, making two Reading Plus lessons in total.
• Doodle Tables: Pupils should aim to remain On Target each week.
• Spellings: Pupils will have a weekly spelling focus linked to the spelling rule being taught in class.
• Reading: Pupils should read their levelled reading book regularly at home. This may be independently or aloud to an adult, with opportunities to talk about what they have read.
Times Tables
Times tables are a particularly important focus in Year 4. During the year, pupils will complete the statutory Multiplication Tables Check, which assesses their fluency and recall of multiplication facts up to 12 × 12.
Regular practice at home is incredibly valuable and will help pupils to develop the speed, accuracy and confidence they need. We encourage pupils to practise little and often, particularly through Doodle Tables.
